Launch of Chester Station Concourse - Friday 31st October 2008

To celebrate the completion of the first phase of the improvement works at Chester railway station we are officially opening the new concourse on Friday 31st October. Come join the celebrations!

There'll be plenty of entertainment on offer for all the family to enjoy from 10 am until 4 pm. Activities will include face painting, hat-making, badge-making, pumpkin design and walking tours around Chester Station with Chester-born Thomas Brassey (aka city guide John Whittingham) - one of the world's foremost railway engineers - dressed in Victorian costume.

The guided tours leave from the station entrance throughout the afternoon starting at 2pm until 4.20pm. There's no charge but you need to book in advance on www.instantticketseller.com/chester, or call 01244 405634 (Mon-Fri).

Arriva Trains Wales will be offering free travel tickets – subject to availability - to children under 12 travelling to Chester station (with adult supervision). The ticket will also be valid for travel to Chester Zoo courtesy of Merseyrail and First Group. Details available on www.arrivatrainswales.co.uk.
